Things to do in Peachland at a glance

The District of Peachland sits on the west shore of Okanagan Lake, about 25 km south of Kelowna and 40 km north of Penticton. The list of things to do is short and walkable. Most of it lies along Beach Avenue, with a creek walk and a hill hike a few minutes away by car.

If you want to add a tasting day, the Okanagan wine tours page explains how to organise one without driving yourself. There is no town-wide pass or single entry fee for Peachland, so each place below has its own rules.

The waterfront and the lake

Start on Beach Avenue.

Beach Avenue waterfront trail

The trail runs about 3 km along the shore, and parts of it have access to the water. Street parking on Beach Avenue is free, but signs and time limits still apply. A walk at sunset is the simplest plan in town.

Swim Bay

Swim Bay is a pebble beach at Beach Avenue and 6th Street with a marked swimming zone, toilets, docks and water play equipment. In 2026 the lifeguard season was set for 15 June to 28 August, daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Outside those dates there is no guard. More on the beaches page.

On the water

Stand-up paddleboards and kayaks are the easy way onto the lake in summer. Rules for motorboats are on the boat rental page, and swimming advice is on the Okanagan Lake page.

Museum and art gallery

Two heritage buildings, two different addresses.

Art gallery5684 Beach AvenueWednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Monday and TuesdayBy donation

The museum is an eight-sided former Baptist church, built in 1910. It was used as a church until 1964 and has been a museum since 1980. The ground floor is accessible. The gallery is in the historic schoolhouse, a different building from the museum.

Summer hours can be longer: the museum may open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from July to September, and the gallery daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in July and August. Check the day before you go. If you stay a few days, see where to stay.

Walks and hikes nearby

Short and steep, in that order.

Hardy Falls

A short creek walk of less than 1 km return, over bridges to a waterfall. Allow 5 to 20 minutes. In September you can watch kokanee spawn. Signs on site always take priority.

Pincushion Mountain

An unmaintained trail on Crown land with 1.8 km to the top and a climb from 570 m to 815 m. Plan 40 to 60 minutes up.

Kelowna and the valley

Kelowna is about 30 minutes away for the waterfront park and the William R. Bennett Bridge. For the wider region, see the Okanagan Valley overview.

Wine near Peachland

The tasting rooms are in West Kelowna.

Peachland is a base for the Okanagan wine region, not a wine town itself. The Westside Wine Trail in West Kelowna has tasting rooms that open from spring to fall and some that open all year. Tasting fees are common, and some places ask you to book. The tasting age is 19, and ID is checked. Drivers should not drink: in British Columbia the warning level starts at 0.05 percent blood alcohol and the fail level at 0.08 percent. Read the wineries page before you plan a route.

Things to do in Peachland: frequently asked questions

How long do you need in Peachland?

A half day covers the waterfront, the museum and Hardy Falls. Add Pincushion Mountain, a beach afternoon or a wine tour and it becomes a full day or a weekend.

Is there an entry fee for the museum or gallery?

Both ask for a donation in 2026. There is no fixed adult or child rate, so bring a little cash or a card.

Is Peachland good with kids?

Swim Bay has a marked swimming zone and water play equipment. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult, and children under 6 must stay within arm's length. Hardy Falls is a short, easy walk.

What can I do without a car?

The waterfront trail, Swim Bay, the museum and the gallery are all on or near Beach Avenue. Hardy Falls and Pincushion Mountain are easier with a car or a taxi.

Is Peachland a good base for the Okanagan?

It is quiet and lakeside, with Kelowna about 30 minutes north. Penticton is 40 km south, covered by our sister guide to Penticton wine country.
