Boat rental on Okanagan Lake at a glance
Peachland sits on the west shore of Okanagan Lake, so the water is right at the end of Beach Avenue. Paddleboards and kayaks are the easy way onto the lake. Motorboats need more paperwork and planning. Either way, the lake is large and the weather can change, so check conditions on the day.
These example 2026 rates for paddlecraft in Peachland show what to expect, but other businesses may charge differently. Ask about tax and online fees when you book.

Renting a motorboat: what you need
Anyone driving a motorboat in Canada needs proof of competence. For visitors from abroad there are several routes. You can hold a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, complete the rental boat checklist with the rental company, or carry proof that meets the rules of your home country. The checklist is a short briefing you fill in together with the company, and you keep it on board for the length of the rental only. A boat without a motor does not need any of this.
- Life jackets: wear one and check that the boat carries the required safety gear.
- Your own skills: a card proves you took a course, not that you can handle a boat in wind and waves.
- Weather: ask the rental company about lake conditions on your day and about local hazards.
There is no general motorboat price, deposit or minimum age that applies everywhere, so ask each company before you book.
Paddleboard and kayak rental in Peachland
Paddlecraft rental is on the Peachland waterfront, and the 2026 season starts on 1 June. In June hours are shorter, from Thursday or Friday to Sunday, with extra days by arrangement. In July and August rentals open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the weather. For long-term rentals a deposit of CA$500 applies. Check September hours with the business before you plan an autumn paddle.
Keep paddlecraft out of the marked swimming zone at Swim Bay, where boats, paddleboards, kayaks and inflatables are not allowed. Our guide to beaches in Peachland shows where to swim.

Boats on the lake near Kelowna and Peachland
Kelowna is about 30 minutes north of Peachland by road. Its Waterfront Park at 1200 Water Street has a beach area, toilets and a boardwalk link to City Park. Rental options differ by town and by season, so compare the places you can reach rather than assuming the same choice everywhere.
Our guide to Okanagan Lake near Peachland covers swimming and boating rules, and the Kelowna page has the city waterfront in more detail.
Ramps, docks and lake rules
The municipal day dock in Peachland has no overnight moorings. Near ramps, docks and swimming areas, go slowly. During a wildfire emergency the municipal boat ramps on Beach Avenue and Princeton Avenue can close, and boats must give firefighting aircraft room. Wildfire smoke and closures can change a plan at short notice, so keep a flexible day.
Rattlesnake Island, across the water from Peachland, has rocky shores and shallows. Enjoy it as a landscape feature from your boat, but do not plan to land or swim across to it.
