Kelowna Airport to Peachland at a glance

Kelowna International Airport uses the code YLW. Plan on 50 to 60 minutes by road to Peachland, and more in traffic or in wildfire season.

A car makes the stay easier, since it gets you to Hardy Falls, the trailhead of Pincushion Mountain and the wineries in West Kelowna. If you do not want to drive, a guided wine tour solves the biggest problem, because drivers should not drink.

Rental car and parking

Counters are in the terminal.

Rental cars

The rental counters are in the airport terminal. A car is the most flexible choice for Hardy Falls, Pincushion Mountain and the winery roads of West Kelowna.

Parking in Peachland

Street parking on Beach Avenue is free. That does not mean unlimited time or overnight parking, so follow the signs. Regional parks are day-use parks, and overnight parking is not allowed.

Road changes

The town's road projects include a new traffic light at Trepanier Bench Road and right-turn limits planned at Buchanan North and Huston, so expect changes at these junctions. A multi-use path toward West Kelowna is finished.

Route 22Westbank Exchange to Peachland; the ride itself takes about 10 to 14 minutes

There is no direct bus from YLW to Peachland. The connection takes at least two changes, and the total time depends on the timetable, so allow plenty of time. Check the timetable for holiday service.

Fares in the Kelowna region are CA$3 for a single ride and CA$6 for a DayPASS for ages 13 and up. Children up to and including 12 ride free. The old free 90-minute transfers ended on 1 October 2025. The DayPASS applies automatically after a second single fare in a day with a card or app, and with cash you ask for the DayPASS.

From Vancouver by car

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is about 380 km west of Peachland, and Vancouver to Kelowna is about 4 hours. Neither number is a drive time from YVR to Peachland, so plan with some margin.

Highway 5, the Coquihalla, runs from Hope via Merritt. Highway 97C, the Okanagan Connector, links it to Highway 97. Highway 97 alone is not a through route to Vancouver. Check DriveBC before you leave, because wildfire can limit Highway 97 for a while. For longer routes see the British Columbia road trip page.

Entry to Canada

Short version, 2026.

German citizens are visa-exempt. If you fly to or through Canada, you need an eTA, which costs CA$7 and lasts up to 5 years or until the passport expires. Arriving by land or sea, you do not need one. US citizens do not need an eTA and should carry a valid passport. Short stays are normally up to 6 months, and the border officer decides.
